Beaches International Jazz Festival (July 18 to July 27)
The annual Beaches International Jazz Festival brings the very best of the contemporary jazz scene to the city — but it doesn’t stop there. Visitors can also look forward some of the top blues, big band, African, Caribbean, hip-hop, rhythm and blues, and many other artists who all come to celebrate music and summer in Toronto.

Some of the headliners of the 2014 festival are blues singer Teeny Tucker, iconic Canadian reggae group Messenjah, R&B singer Jay Dougles, and funk ensemble Dumpstaphunk. The festival line-up also features many up-and-coming Canadian jazz artists on a special Youth Stage. Other themed stages include the Latin Square Stage, Big Band Stage, and Party Island Stage. Many people also look forward to the legendary StreetFest feature of the festival — 2.5 kilometres of musical performances delivered by more than 40 Canadian bands along Queen Street East.

On top of the performances, the festival includes the Taste of Jazz Gourmet Food Truck Extravaganza fest — a unique option for foodies to enjoy their treats while taking in the sounds of the Toronto All-Star Big Band and Irene Torres and the Sugar Devils. There are also several music workshops, open jam sessions, and kids’ events scheduled.
