IFOA – October 23 to November 2
In October, Toronto will become one of the global hot spots of contemporary world literature. The 35th annual International Festival of Authors will once again attract some of the greatest writers and thousands of their readers for 11 days filled with public readings, discussions, interviews, and book signing events.
The long list of confirmed participants includes such names as Ian McEwan (Atonement, Amsterdam), Alissa York (Any Given Power), Colm Tóibín (The Blackwater Lightship), and John Raiston Saul, international president of the PEN Club.
Like every year, organizers have enriched the festival with a special focus. In 2014, the main theme will be WWI and its impact on life in Canada and the world. The festival also includes a number of special events, such as talks about the Governor General’s Literary Award, Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize finalists, and the Harbourfront Festival Prize ceremony.
The event takes place at the Harbourfront Centre. Ticket prices vary based on events, with a broad range anywhere between $12 and $120. Check the website of the event for more information and consider booking your seat in advance.
