Toronto Design Offsite Festival (January 19 to 25) or simply TO DO returns to the streets of Toronto as a creative platform for Canada’s most prominent designers.
The festival focuses on independent and innovative design and tries to bring it closer to the people by introducing unusual installations and prototypes right into the public space. Besides programming that takes place right in the streets, the festival features an ever-growing mixture of screenings, panel discussions, window installations, tours and exhibitions.
Just like last year, one of the iconic highlights of TO DO is a unique Gladstone hotel’s Come Up to My Room show, in which designers are invited to decorate one of the hotel rooms in all four floors, creating a huge site-specific happening that merges design, art and performance over the two weeks of the festival. Gladstone hotel is also a location of the closing party that can also be understood as a celebration of the 12th anniversary of the Come Up to My Room project. A special edition of Pecha Kucha night will also be held, as the Colour Research Society of Canada agreed to cooperate in the event, creating a Colour Clash! Night coming up on January 20.
