The long awaited time of the year is here! Yes, it’s almost unbelievable that Santa is already packing presents and preparing his sled. Here’s our list of the best things to do, and it’s not just about Christmas. Some events don’t include red and green colour—but all of them are worth visiting. Toronto Christmas Market

This well-known annual event gathers friends and families in the streets of Toronto with a simple goal—to celebrate Christmas and enjoy its beautiful atmosphere. The Distillery District will be filled with vendors and family entertainment so you can expect some shopping, as well as Christmas concerts, a Ferris wheel, a carousel, Santa with his reindeer, carollers, snowmen from all around the world and tasting delicacies in European style. This event is actually inspired by European-style Christmas markets and it’s perfect for both adults and kids, full of fun and yummy food!

There are many Christmas traditions that have roots in the Victorian era. The Village is a perfect place to learn about them. Do you want to know why we send Christmas cards and what’s the origin of traditional Christmas food? Why do we put up Christmas trees and what’s their history? Get the answers to all of the questions, meet Santa, enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride, Victorian dancing and try a homemade mincemeat tart and warm cider or some of the other traditional meals. Canada Job Expo

Because it’s important to have a good job and money is a big factor when it comes to Christmas, Canada Job Expo deserves to be on our list. It’s the best place to begin or change the career path for everyone from graduates, unemployed and seasoned veterans to those who are new to Canada. The most attended job fair in the GTA includes major Canadian employers, various organizations and educational institutions as well as skilled workers and networking possibilities.

The contemporary version of a well-known fairy tale is a Tony Award®-winning musical from the creators of The Sound of Music. In 1957, it was first broadcast on the television with Julie Andrews playing the main role. And now it’s coming from Broadway to Toronto in a special holiday production of Rodgers and Hammerstein! Expect not only an amazing visual experience thanks to the beautiful scene and special effects, but a live orchestra as well. This play will transport you back to your childhood!

This American progressive rock band is focused on both Christmas music and hard rock. Selling over 10 million albums, they know how to attract people and they do it through the unique mixture of what seems incompatible. After performing in more than 80 destinations around the world, they will bring a holiday themed rock opera with light shows and incredible energy to the Air Canada Centre just one day before Christmas!

There’s a plethora of New Year’s Eve celebrations across the city, covering dance parties, gala, opera, comedy—basically whatever comes to mind, it will probably be there. We decided to pick a rather traditional and family-oriented place to be on the last day of 2015. The annual New Year’s Eve at Nathan Phillips Square celebrates it’s 30th birthday this year, with a variety of concerts and interactive exhibits. Visitors can enjoy skating, live music and DJ performances, and splendid fireworks at midnight. Still not convinced?
