Once in a while, annual apps are created to showcase specific events in Toronto. These time-sensitive apps are so valuable during their related event, and are then updated/created for the following year. Of course, during the time the apps are obsolete, people often delete them from their electronic devices, and then forget to re-download them in time. Here are some important apps that will definitely enhance your experience at important Toronto events.
Pride Toronto App
Pride Toronto is a not-for-profit organization that hosts Pride Week – an annual event downtown Toronto. Pride Week celebrates diverse sexual and gender identities, cultures, families etc. In 2010, this 10-day-long event was accompanied by an important app, which detailed hosted events during Pride Week, affiliated events, easy-to-follow schedules, disability info, TTC info and more. This app is worth checking back for the following Pride Week!
Doors Open Mobile App
Doors Open Toronto is an incredible annual event where Torontonians and tourists alike can visit important historical and cultural buildings around Toronto, free of charge. The Doors Open Mobile App will completely re-enhance your experience in amazing Toronto event. The app includes a list and detailed information (including architectural information) of all participating buildings, will let you map out the potential sites to visit near you, and even allows you to save a list of your favourites! Be sure to plan your route through this incredible app, and you are sure to experience all the wonders Toronto has to offer!
The Luminato Festival App
“For 10 extraordinary days in June, Toronto’s stage, streets and public spaces are illuminated with arts and creativity. Now in it’s fifth year, Luminato is an annual, multi-disciplinary celebration of theatre, dance, music, literature, food, visual arts, fashion, film, magic and more”. If you had the pleasure of attending Luminato this June 2011, you know how amazing and busy this festival is. The official app acts as a guide throughout the festival, with information on event schedules and venues, ticket prices, maps with addresses and directions, and more. myNXNE 2011 App
myNXNE 2011 is an iPhone App for Toronto’s North by Northeast Music Festival – the largest music festival in Toronto. Held in June, this festival features over 650 bands, 40 films and 50 panels showcased during the event. Best way to keep track? Download the app, which details venues, show-times, artists, scheduling information, VIP passes, audiogear, 2011 wristbands and more!
TEDTalks is set of incredible global symposiums that brings together leaders, intellectuals, inventors, entrepreneurs and more. Their website features hundreds of videos of inspirational people and revolutionary individuals. The official TEDxToronto app features everything you need to know about the annual conference held in Toronto. You can view a real-time schedule of talks, a real-time display of tweets, interactive maps, and more. Held on September 30th last year, both the conference and this app are worth re-visiting for 2011.

Winter Magic App
